Introduction
A direct booking site for a short stay rental saves the platform commission and takes on the job the platform was doing: convincing a stranger to send money to someone they have never met. Photography, honest availability and visible reviews are how that gets replaced.

Photography Is Most of the Decision
Guests decide from photographs and almost nothing else. Wide shots that show how rooms connect, natural light, and at least one image of every space someone will sleep or cook in. A missing bathroom photo reads as a hidden bathroom.
Availability Has to Be Honest
A calendar that is out of date is worse than no calendar. An enquiry for a booked week costs you a reply and costs the guest their patience, and it is the fastest way to feel less reliable than the platform you left.

Show the Total Price
Guests have been trained by every booking platform to expect the nightly rate to be a lie. Showing the full total, cleaning and fees included, for their actual dates removes the suspicion that something is waiting at checkout.
Bring the Reviews With You
Reviews are the asset the platform holds and the reason people trust it. Quote them on the direct site with the guest name and date, and the trust gap closes considerbly; without them a direct site is a stranger asking for a deposit.
Before You Go Direct
Work out what the site has to earn to beat the commission you are avoiding, then check the booking path on a phone at that price. If a guest cannot see availability, total cost and a review in one screen, they will open the app instead.
